Oso Cemetery
(Snohomish County)
21025 SR 530
Oso, Washington USA

History:  This cemetery is also called Oso Pioneer Cemetery. There are at least 30 marked graves, but there are many more without headstones.  The earliest burials were in 1888 and the last one was in 1935.  The cemetery is on a private farm just across the railroad tracks.  Years ago a previous farm owner noticed that his barn needed repair, so he looked around and decided the best way to do this was to use many of the headstones from the cemetery to shore up the foundation of his barn.  The Cemetery Association bought several sheep to graze on the cemetery grounds to keep the grass and weeds in check.  These sheep did much damage to the tombstones because the sheep used the markers as scratching posts.

Directions:  From I-5 take exit 208 and proceed east on State Route 530 to milepost 32; continue east .2 mile.  Turn left onto a private drive at 21025 SR 530.
